Internal Seminar: Combating ESBL-Producing Klebsiella pneumoniae

On September 24th, 2023 , Miss. Heshu Jalal Assistant Lecturer in the Biology Education Department, Faculty of Education at Tishk International University, presented an internal seminar under the title “Synergistic Antibacterial Effect of Green Zinc Oxide Nanoparticles and Fluoroquinolone in Combating ESBL-Producing Klebsiella pneumoniae within Erbil City“. The seminar aimed to shed light on a promising avenue of research, and present a study that focused on addressing the growing challenge posed by increasingly resistant strains of Klebsiella pneumoniae, a bacterium responsible for various infections.

Researchers investigated the potential of green zinc oxide nanoparticles in synergy with antibiotics to combat these infections. The study’s findings point to the potential of green zinc oxide nanoparticles, sourced from Epipremnum pinnatum, to enhance the effectiveness of cefotaxime in combating ESBL-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae. While further research is needed to refine and expand upon these promising results, this work represents a significant step forward in the ongoing fight against drug-resistant bacteria.
