Scientific Trip to Zheen International Hospital Laboratory The Biology Education Department, Faculty of Education at Tishk International University, organized a scientific trip to Zheen International Hospital Genetics Department Laboratory for 3rd-grade students on May 16th, 2022. The trip was supervised by Mr Harmand A. Hama and Mr Zanyar Othman. The trip aimed to provide students with an opportunity to understand the tests conducted in the laboratory, including tests to identify chromosome abnormalities such as aneuploidy and rearrangements. Scientific trip to Salahaddin University Herbarium On May 10th, 2022, the Biology Education Department, Faculty of Education at Tishk International University, organized a trip to Salahaddin University Herbarium to learn about the plants from the Kurdistan Region of Iraq that have been stored since 1978. Medicinal plants, parasitic plants and casual herbs are the plants stored in the herbarium. The trip aimed to familiarize students with the plants they studied in the Plant Taxonomy Course during the Spring Semester. Evaluation of P53 Expression Among Colorectal Cancer Patients The Department of Biology, Faculty of Education at Tishk International University organized a seminar titled: Evaluation of p53 expression among Colorectal Cancer Patient, held on April 14th, 2021. The seminar was presented by Mr. Harmand Ali , Head of Biology Education Department. He explained the p53 gene, its role, and its expression on colorectal cancer patients. Mr. Harmand Ali also mentioned how the procedure has been applied on many patients in several hospitals in Erbil and Sulaymaniyah. The seminar was beneficial and students were introduced to new medical knowledge.
Continuous waste production is one of the most threatening factors of life on Earth due to its harmful effect, which causes a lot of problems, such as pollution, global warming, affecting natural sources, and the spread of diseases. It is our duty as biologists to maintain the Earth's natural resources for future generations and to educate people about the importance of sustainability of these sources through waste management.
