  A senior student from the English Language Teaching Department, Sumaya Rashad Mahmood, completed an innovative capstone project exploring the use of artificial intelligence to create short stories that promote social and emotional learning among children. The project, titled “Bilingual Storybook for Kurdish Children: Promoting Social and Emotional Learning through Artificial Intelligence and Storytelling,” resulted in the production of 13 illustrated short stories in English and Kurdish Sorani for children aged 5–10. On 20 May 2026, Jasmin Mahmood Ameen, a second-year student in the English Language Teaching (ELT) Department, Faculty of Education, successfully participated in the Thailand Corner Competition held at Ibn Sina Hall, Tishk International University. The competition was organized by Tishk International University in collaboration with the Royal Thai Embassy in Amman and aimed to promote cultural awareness and strengthen students' understanding of Thai culture, language, tourism, and cuisine. The Department of English Language Teaching is pleased to highlight a student project titled “English Learning Podcast: Enhancing Language Learning Through AI and Multimedia Platforms,” prepared by Mardin Raad Radha under the supervision of Mr. Soran Mustafa Kurdi. Our ELT Department student, Süeda Meva Kapukaya, recently participated in the Thailand Culture Presentation Competition organized by Thai Corner. In her presentation, she explored various aspects of Thai culture, introducing important cultural concepts such as Sanuk, which emphasizes enjoying life and finding happiness in everyday activities, and Jai Yen, which reflects the value of remaining calm and patient.
