On December 6th, 2022, the Biology Education Department, Faculty of Education at Tishk International University, organised a scientific trip for second-grade students to the Invertebrates Laboratory, Salahaddin University, College of Science. The trip was supervised by Mrs. Zhikal Omar and Mrs.Gasheen Bakhtiyar

Students learn more efficiently through visualisation; therefore, organising field trip gives them the opportunity to touch, feel, and hear what they are learning in theory. This helps them to integrate what they learn in class, understand topics better, develop cultural sensitivity and tolerance, and expose them to the outside world. The trip aimed to familiarise students with the phyla and spices they studied in the Invertebrates Course during the Fall Semester. During the trip, Mrs. Fenk, Assistant Lecturer at the Salahaddin Univesity, College of Science, shared detailed information about all the phyla related to this course, starting with protozoa until Arthropoda. She also showed them stunning samples preserved in the laboratory long ago. Mrs. Fenk also brought her own samples that she had prepared with her students earlier, and the students enjoyed learning about each of the samples. Our staff and students greatly benefitted from the visit and appreciated the practical and detailed explanations provided by the laboratory supervisor. During the trip, Mrs. Zhikal Omar and Mrs. Gasheen Bakhtiyar prepared a set of questions related to the trip for students as an assignment that is required to be submitted next week during their laboratory time.
