On December 13th, third-stage students took part in a research tour planned by the Biology Education DepartmentFaculty of Education at Tishk International University. Drinking enough water every day is essential for your health, as it can prevent dehydration, a condition that can cause unclear thinking, result in mood change, cause your body to overheat, and lead to constipation and kidney stones. In order to generate safe and clean water for a particular usage, it is necessary to remove and reduce the concentration of particulate matter, including suspended particles, parasites, bacteria, algae, viruses, and other undesired chemical and biological contaminants from polluted water.

This trip’s purpose was to demonstrate to the students how water filtration and cleaning work and how important they are to daily living. Students were very excited to see the laboratory of a water filtration company in Erbil and to understand the stages of the filtration process, including sediment, mechanical, chemical, mineral, and bacterial. The laboratory staff and technicians were very welcoming and hospitable and explained the biological and chemical aspects of the water filtration process. The staff members also toured our students around the laboratory, pools, and pump rooms.
