Professor Dr Azeez Abdullah Barzinjy Kurdish Scholar in the Top 2% of Global Researchers

Professor Dr Azeez Abdullah Barzinjy, a lecturer and researcher at the research Center at Soran University, and Professor Dr Azeez as part-time lecturer in the Physics Education Department, Faculty of Education at Tishk International University (TIU) has been recognized as one of the top 2% researchers globally in the field of Materials Science. This acknowledgment was granted by Stanford University in the United States on October 4th, 2023.

Stanford University included Professor.Dr. Azeez Abdullah Barzinjy in the list of “2% Top Scientists Worldwide” for his significant contributions to academic research. The list recognizes scholars who have excelled in various scientific disciplines globally. With nearly 100,000 researchers worldwide, the criteria for inclusion are based on publications in 22 scientific fields and 174 sub-fields, according to the Scopus database, reflecting the high impact of their scientific work.

The recognition from Stanford University, a global academic authority, is a worldwide acknowledgment, based on the criteria of highly reputable journals and recognized researchers, and the H-index, which is one of the indicators used to measure the productivity and citation impact of researchers. Stanford University’s reputation is as a distinguished American research university, established in 1891. Moreover, Professor.Dr. Aziz Abdullah Barzinjy is the only researcher from Soran University mentioned in this list. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in physics from Salahaddin University in 1998. He earned his first master’s degree (in the most conductive substances) at Salahaddin University of Erbil in 2004. In 2009, he achieved his second master’s degree in (Theoretical Physics) from Old Dominion University in the United States. Finally, he completed his Ph.D. in (Material Science) at the Center for Material Science Research, Leicester University, in the United Kingdom in 2014. Now he is a professor at the Center for Advanced Studies in Material Science at Soran University.

As a leading researcher, Professor.Dr. Azeez Abdullah Barzinjy has participated in several international conferences and has been an active member of various scientific committees. His research has been cited more than 1600 times, and he has published in 110 high-impact scientific journals. His research focuses on nanotechnology, particularly in the development of sustainable nanotechnologies, the fabrication of new-generation solar cells, the enhancement of plasmonic resonance, and nanotechnology. So far, he has supervised several master’s and Ph.D. students at universities in Kurdistan.
