Training Course in Education and Computational Focus in Mathematics Teaching

 

The department of Mathematics Education, under the auspicious leadership of Dr. Orhan Tug organized a training program with the umbrella theme Training Course in Education and Computational Focus in Mathematics Teaching. The training had fourteen titles from four major categories including Research and Development, Professional Ethics, Computational Skills, and Content Management Systems. The objectives of the training, which ran from 22/01/2023 to 13/03/2023, were as follows:

  1. To provide information and guidance to academic staff on how to improve research impact through credible research procedures and proper paper publications.
  2. To remind the teaching staff of their responsibility to uphold professional ethics: personal professional, academic professional, and workplace professional ethics.
  3. To enhance the computational skills of academic staff in terms of statistical packages knowledge and proper research paper typing skills (LaTeX).
  4. To help academic staff improve their personal visibility online through developing personal websites using WordPress.

The training program met and surpassed the Ministry of Higher Education requirements of 24 hours of professional development training for academic staff. The department recorded impressive attendance records for most of the sessions with participants from almost all departments in the university. We also excited to report that the feedback from participants was very positive and encouraging. We look forward to having an even bigger and better program with a larger audience for the next academic year’s training program.

On Sunday, 22nd of January 2023, Mathematics Education Department held its inaugural professional training session. The speaker, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Demir merged two sessions and presented on How to Increase Research Impact and Paper Submission Tips to Take into Consideration in an interesting and interactive way. This was the first of a series of professional training sessions organized by the department under the umbrella Training Course in Education and Computational Focus in Mathematics Teaching, that is to run throughout the entire academic year as a basic required of the ministry of higher education of Kurdistan, Iraq. The training course was officially opened by the head of Mathematics Education department, Dr. Orhan Tug and was attended by many academicians from departments across the university. A certificate of presentation was issued to Asst. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Demir by Prof. Mowafaq Muhammed Al-kassab at the end of the training session.
