On 20 May 2026, Jasmin Mahmood Ameen, a second-year student in the English Language Teaching (ELT) Department, Faculty of Education, successfully participated in the Thailand Corner Competition held at Ibn Sina Hall, Tishk International University. The competition was organized by Tishk International University in collaboration with the Royal Thai Embassy in Amman and aimed to promote cultural awareness and strengthen students’ understanding of Thai culture, language, tourism, and cuisine.

Jasmin presented a topic entitled “Tom Yum Goong: A Taste of Thai Culture,” in which she explored one of Thailand’s most famous dishes and its cultural significance. Inspired by her experience of living in Malaysia for 22 years, she shared her interest in Southeast Asian cultures and cuisines. Her background enabled her to better understand and explain aspects of Thai food culture, as she had previous exposure to similar regional traditions, flavors, and culinary practices. This experience helped her deliver the presentation with confidence and enthusiasm.

As a result of her successful presentation, Jasmin achieved 4th place in the competition among more than 50 participants. She described the event as a valuable and enjoyable experience that helped her develop her presentation skills, gain confidence, and learn more about Thai culture.

The Faculty of Education congratulates Jasmin on her achievement and wishes her continued success in future academic and cultural activities.
