The Department of English Language Teaching is pleased to highlight a student project titled “English Learning Podcast: Enhancing Language Learning Through AI and Multimedia Platforms,” prepared by Mardin Raad Radha under the supervision of Mr. Soran Mustafa Kurdi.
The project demonstrates how ELT students can use artificial intelligence and multimedia tools to create practical English learning materials for ESL/EFL learners. As part of the project, the student designed and produced a 12-episode English learning podcast series titled “Unlock Your English with Lola.” The episodes were prepared for Kurdish beginner learners at the A1 level and focused on basic communication topics such as introductions, nationalities, family, hobbies, weather, colors, and daily lifestyle.
The project used AI tools such as ChatGPT, DeepSeek, Qwen, Google AI Studio, and ElevenLabs to support scriptwriting, voice production, and content development. CapCut Pro was also used for video editing and final production. The materials were published on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, making the lessons accessible through platforms commonly used by young learners.
This project highlights ELT students’ ability to integrate language teaching, educational technology, cultural localization, and digital content creation. It also shows that AI can support teachers and student-creators when used responsibly with human supervision, editing, and pedagogical review.
The project is a practical example of how students in the ELT Department can design creative, accessible, and community-based English-learning resources using AI and multimedia platforms.
