Scientific Trip to Sami Abdulrahman Park With 2nd Grade Students

The Biology Education Department, Faculty of Education , Tishk International University, organized a scientific trip to Sami Abdulrahman Park for 2nd -grade students on May 4th, 2023. The trip, held under the supervision of Prof.Dr. Abdulrahman Mahmud Dogara and Mrs. Shnyar Qadir, aimed to provide students with an opportunity to understand the process of how we can collect the herbarium plant for further study and analysis.

A herbarium is an essential resource for studies of biodiversity, ecology, and evolution. It is a primary data source of dried and labeled plant specimens organized for easy retrieval and archival storage. A herbarium is similar to a library, but the information is stored biologically as pressed, dried, and annotated plant specimens.

The trip was both enjoyable and beneficial , and students had the chance to learn about the procedures, the preparation of herbarium for studying various plant varieties, and the significance of these storing plants because it helps taxonomists be aware of the plants with all available information in the area and use them in their studies.
