On 8th of November 2016, the department of Physics Education held the first poster presentation of this academic year. Physics teacher candidates prepared posters about Astronomy lesson. Astronomy is the study of science about celestial objects such as Sun, moon, stars, planets, comets, galaxies and the physical universe as a whole. Given the size of the universe (which could be infinite), astronomy is an enormous field. Poster presentation is one of the modern ways of teaching and learning as a student centered method. On Monday 30th May the Department of Physics Education held the first poster presentation. Physicist members are invited to judge the poster competition, meeting with each student to assess their knowledge and overall visual impact of the poster. The jury members work closely with the Department to promote academic and enhance useful knowledge, ensuring that courses reflect current developments and to provide successful student development. Their support provides students with the opportunity to gain experience and more confident for the next works. Department of Physics Education organized a seminar under the title of ‘’The Basics of Physics with Calculus’’, and it is presented by Head of Mathematics Education, Faculty of Education at Tishk International University. In this recent seminar, the importance and usage of some basics of calculus in Physics are introduced and some important applications of calculus are given to the students in order to be more familiar with mathematics.

Department of Physics Education organized a seminar under the title of ‘’How to be an effective teacher’’, and it is presented by Dr. Suleyman Celik, Dean of Faculty of Education at Tishk International University. A seminar on ‘’PREZI: How to Present’’ was held by Department of Physics Education at Tishk International University. The Seminar was presented by Dr. Ashraf R. Abdullah who works at English Language Teaching Department. This seminar was about PREZI which is new presentation software package that is freely available for everyone and can be used as a modern and more fashionable alternative to PowerPoint. A seminar on What makes a great physics teacher was held by Tishk International University in career days of Tishk International University. The Seminar was presented by Mr. Ahmet Dinc who works as Physics teacher at Fazalar Education Institutions. This seminar was about the most important tips that lead the students to a successful Physics teacher in Physics Education Department. The topics of the seminar were Language Proficiency, Academic (subject) Proficiency, Educational Proficiency, Educational Workshop, Lab. work and using Technology in Physics Education We would like to thank Mr. Ahmet Dinc for giving us his valuable times during the seminar.

A seminar on Physics Timeline was held by Department of Physics Education. The Seminar was presented by Mr. Sver who works as research assistant at Physics Education Department. This seminar has encouraged students to know and learn the history of Physics so that get benefit from the goods and avoid not doing the mistakes again; this seminar was about the great work of the scientists and a short biography of their life, in series starting from 17th century till 21st. We would like to thank Mr. Sver for giving us his valuable times during the seminar.  

In Physics, having academic field trip is important and enjoyable element of our education system. We organized an academic field trip to Darbandikhan Dam in Sulaimani. The purpose of the field trip was to observe and to learn how to produce electricity from dam. Our students significantly enhanced the content of the course by providing a type of information hard to convey in the class. We would like to thank the Head of hydroelectric power generation unit, Faruq Ahmed for accepting our request and introducing our students to Darbandikhan Dam.
