The early years of the 21st century witnessed the start of the Nanotechnology revolution, which is rapidly and increasingly influencing people’s everyday life. Thus, public awareness of ‘Nano’ and its social implications and societal consequences has become of prime significance. On 24th December 2017, a one-day workshop under the title of “Nanotechnology Workshop NW-1 2017” was hosted by the Physics Education Department at Tishk International University. Nanotechnology is science, engineering, and technology conducted at the nanoscale, which is about 1 to 100 nanometers. Nanotechnology is a highly interdisciplinary area; meaning that it involves ideas integrated from many traditional disciplines can be used across all the other science fields, such as physics, chemistry, biology, materials science, and engineering. Scientists have discovered that materials at small dimensions/small particles, thin films, etc- can have significantly different properties than the same materials at larger scale. The Physics Education Department at Tishk International University in collaboration with the Physics Departments in the College of Education and College of Science at Salahaddin University will organize a joint one-day workshop under the title of “Nanotechnology workshop NW1-2017” on 24th December 2017 (8:30Am). The speakers will come from eight different universities. Those willing to participate in the workshop can register online, and will be certified for their participation at the end of workshop.
