Astronomy Club Participated in the Spring Festival 2022

The Dean of Students Office at Tishk International University (TIU) organised the 5th International Festival of Language, Culture and Science at the TIU campus under the theme of “Green Energy and Minimum Waste” with the participation of general consulates, politicians, parents, students, staff, and guests, held on Tuesday, May 17th, 2022. The festival aimed to raise support for renewable energy as a solution to the region’s crises of energy and environment and to increase the awareness of minimum waste. The festival also focused on promoting the message of peace and coexistence among countries and nations.

The Astronomy Club participated in the scientific tent represented by the Physics Education Department to promote astronomy by displaying a telescope and several models of astronomical posters, planet models, and the Webb Telescope Model. Visitors watched the sunspots during the day, and onlookers were astounded by the observations they had not experienced before. The President of Tishk International University and the Head of the Tishk International University Research Center paid a visit to the Physics tent and participated in the activities organised by the club.

Muhammad Abdulaziz of the Astronomy Club made a poster regarding his snaps of sunspot observation during the day on March 10th and 14th, 2022, demonstrating the sun’s rotation. He also included his images of quarter moon observations, which reveal the moon’s craters. This poster clarified what and why sunspots are observed using the telescope throughout the day. The sunspot observation and moon photographs also impressed the visitors, and they enjoyed learning about astronomy and participating in the activities organised in the scientific tent.
