Towards Effective Teaching and Learning
On the 23rd of October 2022, the Physics Education Department, Faculty of Education at Tishk International University held the 2nd National Workshop on Prospects and Challenges in Higher Physics Education. Department staff members and students from all grades attended the workshop. Staff members from other faculties also joined the event. The workshop included two sessions:
Session 1: Session Chair, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ismail Murad
– Welcoming speech by the Head of the Physics Education Department, Dr. Pshtiwan Akrem.
– The first presentation, entitled “Qualities that Employers are Looking for in Employing New Graduate Teachers” presented by Mr. Sivar Aziz, Assistant Lecturer in the Physics Department.
– The second speech was given by Dr. Muhammad Hisham, a lecturer in the Physics Department. The presentation entitled “Determine your Field of Interest”.
– A coffee break was included for about 15 minutes.
Session 2: Session Chair, Dr. Pshtiwan Akrem
– The first speech was presented by Ms. Asia Omer, a teacher WHO freshly graduated from the Department of Physics Education, Faculty of Education at Tishk International University. Ms. Asia is currently employed as a teacher at Cambridge International School in Erbil, Iraq. She presented “The Challenges Facing a Fresh Teacher.”
– The following presentation entitled “The Importance of Activities During Study” was delivered by Mr. Sebur Salih, a Research Assistant at the Department of Physics Education.
– “Time Management” was presented by Miss. Payam Najmadden, a Research Assistant in the Department of Physics Education.
– Asst. Prof. Dr. Ismail Murad. A Lecturer of Astronomy and Lab Coordinator at the Physics Education Department delivered the last presentation, entitled “How to Apply New Pedagogical Approaches in Teaching Physics.”
During the event, certificates of appreciation were awarded to the participants. On behalf of the Department of Physics Education at TIU, we extend our deepest gratitude to all staff members who presented at the event and shared valuable knowledge and expertise.
