Orientation session for freshmen students of the Mathematics Department

On 18 December 2020, Mathematics Department at Tishk International University (TIU) held an orientation session for freshman students of the Mathematics Department, to welcome them to our university and the new academic year.

The event commenced with a welcoming speech by the Head of Department Dr. Orhan Tug, in which he welcomed the new students, and wished them a pleasant and successful year at TIU. The aim of this session was to introduce TIU, the faculty, and the department to freshmen, and to explain the policies, processes, and procedures at our University. To begin, a short video about the university was shared, followed by a presentation on the SIS system, GPA calculation, examination policies, and attendance.

Students were also informed of student request procedures, report writing, and academic advising assistance provided at TIU. The session further covered the student clubs offered at the university, the role of the Dean of Students Office, and how students can engage in many extra circular activities that involve humanitarian and community services. The event was led by Research Assistants Ms.Maria Kawa and Mr. C.Jaf. The session was attended by 10 students.

Following the orientation program, with great contributions from second-stage students and staff members, a welcoming ceremony was organized by Research Assistants Ms.Maria Kawa and Mr. C.Jaf. The ceremony was held on the 22nd of December, in the Education campus. The purpose of the event was to celebrate our newcomers for the 2021-2022 academic year.

Dr. Orhan Tug, Head of the Mathematics Education Department enriched the event by welcoming them and delivering an inspiring speech. The Dean of Students Representative at the Mathematics Department also delivered a speech in which he welcomed the new students and wished them a successful and productive academic year. Faculty members introduced themselves to the first stage students, and to wrap up the event, the freshmen were presented with gifts and enjoyed cake together.

On behalf of the Department of Mathematics, we wish our new students the best of luck in their upcoming four years of their academic journey at TIU! We look forward to celebrating their success and achievements together and hope that they enjoy their time while studying at our University.
