1st National Symposium on Roles of Mindset and Motivation in Mathematics Education

The workshop in brief and objectives

It is the goal of this national symposium on the “Roles of Mindset and Motivation in Mathematics Education” to bring together mathematicians and math educators from throughout the country to talk about the aforementioned topic. The organizing committee believes that the invited experts will pinpoint issues that affect the collegiate level of mathematics instruction and offer potential solutions. In fact, the committee is hoping that partnerships and cooperation between participating institutions and universities would result from the symposium. Consequently, the symposium aims to achieve the following objectives:

1- To explore, comprehend, and promote the growth mindset idea and its significance in mathematics instruction among students and teachers.

2- To discuss the strategies for encouraging students’ intrinsic motivation and to comprehend the function of motivation in mathematics education and how it affects student learning outcomes.

3- To discuss how to create educational experiences that are motivating and support a growth mindset in mathematics.

Outcome(s) of the workshop

1- Participants would gain a deeper understanding of the crucial role that mindset and motivation play in determining success in mathematics education. They would learn how mindset and motivation can impact learning outcomes, and how to cultivate positive mindsets and motivation in themselves and their students.

2- Participants would learn practical strategies for fostering growth mindsets and intrinsic motivation in students, such as using effective feedback, encouraging students to embrace challenges, and promoting a love of learning.

3- Participants would experience an increase in self-efficacy and confidence in their ability to teach mathematics, and they could be motivated to attempt new methods and techniques in the classroom.

4- By applying the principles and strategies learned in the workshop, participants can be better able to engage students in mathematics and help them achieve greater success in the subject.

5- Symposium like these can also provide opportunities for participants to network with other educators, share best practices, and collaborate on future initiatives to improve mathematics education.
