Mathematics Classroom Design In a Public School

On November 16th, 2021, the Head of the Department of Mathematics Education, accompanied by two departmental staff paid a visit to a public school in Harir, Hawler where a graduate of the department, Ms. Dilven works and teaches mathematics. It is part of this year’s plan of the department to design a math classroom in public schools where our graduated students teach. This plan is a community-based project and aims to design and equip a classroom in public schools, including painting the classrooms and decorating them with mathematical-related posters and equipment. This project also aims to provide a smartboard and projector technology for each classroom in the plan. The purpose of this project is to motivate young students and improve the quality of education through the use of art, environment, and technology in the public schools selected. In doing so, it is a great chance to keep in touch with our alumni and further support their professional and academic careers.

This was the first visit to the school, which was aimed at analyzing the school environment, classroom size, space, and facility in which the plan will be implemented upon. Further to this, the visit was a great opportunity to meet the principal of the school, who was supportive and had a tour of the school organized for the visitors. The principal also further discussed how the education system is working and the improvements that can be made through such community projects.

It is our hope and plan that we will design a very modern math classroom for the students of the selected school during this year. With the assistance and determination of our project members and coordinators,  the project will hopefully be successfully implemented and the plan well and smoothly achieved. We would like to thank Tishk International University for supporting these activities and wish to continue acts of service for our communities.
