Bridging the Gap: National Workshop on Math Education
The Mathematics Education Department, Faculty of Education at Tishk International University (TIU) is thrilled to announce the successful completion of its national workshop, “Bridging the Gap: Integrating Community and Industry Needs in Mathematics Education.” Held on March 2nd, 2024, the workshop brought together esteemed representatives from various educational institutions, including:

- Cambridge International School,
- Kings School Erbil,
- BISK British International School Kurdistan-Erbil,
- Mad Institute,
- Stirling Schools,
- ISHIK & NILUFER Schools,
- Salahaddin University Faculty of Science,
- Salahaddin University Faculty of Education,
- University of Kurdistan Hawler (UKH).
During the workshop, attendees engaged in insightful discussions on critical topics such as:
- Curriculum Development
- Course Content Based on Community and Industry Needs
- Stakeholders’ Contributions to Teaching and Research
- Continuous Education for Graduates and Math Teachers
We would like to extend our gratitude to the moderators of these discussions for their outstanding guidance and facilitation throughout the sessions.
Dr. Orhan Tug presented a concise overview of the department, offering significant background information to aid our strategic planning endeavours. Dr. Aziza Kavlu provided a comprehensive summary of the strategic plan for the period of 2023-2028, establishing the basis for cooperative efforts in the field of mathematics education.
The post-roundtable discussion panel enhanced our comprehension of crucial matters and possibilities in mathematics education, thanks to the perceptive inputs from delegates of schools, institutes, universities, graduates, and students from 3rd and 4th Grades, alongside the committed personnel of the Mathematics Education Department.
We anticipate capitalising on the energy created by this workshop and collaborating to achieve our common goal of excellence in mathematics education.
