Turkmen National Institute of World Languages Hosts Online English Language Olympiad
The Turkmen National Institute of World Languages, named after D. M. Azadi, located in Ashkabat, Turkmenistan, recently organised the Online English Language Olympiad, attracting participants from 20 countries worldwide. This initiative was designed to promote linguistic proficiency, facilitate cultural interchange, enhance the quality of education (UN SDG 4), and encourage international cooperation (UN SDG 17) in the field of English language education.
Turkmenistan, Vietnam, Thailand, France, Romania, Belarus, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Costa Rica, Argentina, Cyprus, China, Azerbaijan, Australia, and Iraq were among the participating nations. The wide-ranging involvement highlighted the global reach and significance of English as a universal language, fostering connections among individuals from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
Among the attendees, twelve gifted students from the English Language Teaching (ELT) Department at Tishk International University (TIU) demonstrated their language proficiency. Notably, five of these students performed exceptionally well, placing them in the top five spots of the Olympiad.
Mr. Mhamad Bahzad and Rahma Maan, both 3rd grade students from the ELT Department of the Faculty of Education at TIU, achieved outstanding results and secured the 2nd position. In addition, Nian Wshyar, Marwa Wrya, and Mohammed Ismail demonstrated their exceptional linguistic skills by achieving 3rd place in the competition.
