A seminar focusing on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 2: Zero Hunger titled SDG 2 Zero Hunger: Awareness and Strategies took place in the Education Faculty of Tishk International University on 14th of May 2024. This seminar drew participants from diverse backgrounds to discuss strategies for tackling global hunger. The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of ending hunger and ensuring access to safe, nutritious, and sufficient food for all people, particularly those in vulnerable situations.

The seminar began with an overview of the core objectives of SDG 2. Participants were reminded that by 2030, the world is committed to ending hunger, achieving food security, improving nutrition, and promoting sustainable agriculture. The goal emphasizes ensuring that all people, especially the poor, infants, and those in vulnerable situations, have access to sufficient and nutritious food year-round.

A dynamic discussion session followed, where attendees brainstormed potential strategies for their communities to contribute to the Zero Hunger goal. Several ideas emerged, including the promotion of sustainable farming practices, the reduction of food waste, and the importance of supporting local food systems.

One of the key takeaways from the discussion was the role of education and advocacy in creating awareness about the importance of balanced diets and nutritional security. Local initiatives like food banks, community gardens, and educational outreach were highlighted as actionable steps for citizens to help ensure that vulnerable populations have reliable access to food.

The seminar from TIU marked a significant step toward fostering collaboration among local leaders, activists, and citizens, all committed to working toward a world where hunger is no longer a daily struggle. As the global community continues to push for change, the hope is that by 2030, the dream of Zero Hunger can become a reality for everyone, everywhere.
