ELT’s Hiwa Fuad, The Table Tennis Champion

On 4th May, 2017 Hiwa Fuad Ali (ELT fourth grade student) has been the champion. He won from other eighty champions. In the final Ibrahim Mushir (Mathematics first grade student) has played well. He became second which was very good success for first grade students. The dean of education faculty Dr. Suleyman Celik rewarded the places. This year eighty students of education faculty have joined tennis tournament. It was played in four rounds. It was very competitive and spectators have enjoyed the game.

Updates in regards to ELT492: RESEARCH PROJECT IN ELT course The ELT department met on Thursday May 4th, 2017 and concluded the following changes in the ELT492: RESEARCH PROJECT IN ELT course requirements for the 2016-2017 academic year. The required word limit for the project is from 4000 to 8000. The deadline is extended to Sunday, May 21st, 2017. All the projects should pass above 70% in plagiarism checking program.

ELT Book Report Exhibition

On April 3, 2017 a book report exhibition was held by the English Language Teaching Department at the Faculty of Education. ELT fourth grade students, under the supervision of Dr. Basil Q. Muhammad, exhibited their individual depictions of the story of Swan Lake in the form of creative book reports. The exhibition was held in the Faculty of Education building, and was launched by Dr. Suleyman Celik, Dean of the Education Faculty. Students' projects won the pleasure of all attendants, and were academically evaluated by three jury members for the course of TEFL: Literature.

The 2nd talk of Kurdistan Student Talks (KST) was delivered by Sarah Fadhil, an IT student from the American University of Iraq – Sulaimani. Sarah talked about belief and the power of keeping belief in yourself for success. She further discussed the imperative to challenge oneself for success as an individual and seizing opportunities when they appear to show themselves and when they show change within one as inevitable.

Kurdistan Students Talks (KST) Launched

  Tishk International University is taking the lead in both organizing and presenting the first ever national talk series for students in the Kurdistan Region called Kurdistan Students Talks (KST). KST is a student-led, student-organized, and student-ran series of talk events that is ran by students of English Language Teaching Department. The idea of the project goes back Mawdud Ibahim, a graduating student of ELT Department. KST invites students from other universities in the Kurdistan Region to share their ideas and talents in presentation, critical thinking, analytical thinking, communication, and interpersonal skills.
