The Department of English Language Teaching is pleased to highlight a student project titled “English Learning Podcast: Enhancing Language Learning Through AI and Multimedia Platforms,” prepared by Mardin Raad Radha under the supervision of Mr. Soran Mustafa Kurdi. The project demonstrates how ELT students can use artificial intelligence and multimedia tools to create practical English learning materials for ESL/EFL learners. Our ELT Department student, Süeda Meva Kapukaya, recently participated in the Thailand Culture Presentation Competition organized by Thai Corner. In her presentation, she explored various aspects of Thai culture, introducing important cultural concepts such as Sanuk, which emphasizes enjoying life and finding happiness in everyday activities, and Jai Yen, which reflects the value of remaining calm and patient. The English Language Teaching (ELT) Department successfully conducted its Professional Development Week from September 18–24, 2025, bringing together all ELT academic staff for a series of meetings, workshops, and discussions aimed at preparing for the upcoming academic year. The primary objective of the professional development activities was to review, evaluate, and enhance departmental practices, including course syllabi, teaching materials, handbooks, assessment procedures, and academic policies. On Monday, 09 February 2026, the Faculty of Education organized an Alumni Reunion at 03:00 PM in the New Pharmacy Building, 3rd Floor, Hall 400. The event was arranged as a special gathering for the alumni and graduates of the Faculty of Education, with the aim of reconnecting former students, strengthening professional and social relationships, and maintaining the warm spirit of the faculty community. As part of the English Language Teaching (ELT) Department’s commitment to community service and educational outreach, fourth-year students Sharan Braim, Hazha Kafi, and Rayan Shamsaden successfully designed and developed an Interactive Learn-by-Doing Notebook for learners in public schools. The project was conducted from December 1, 2025, to April 15, 2026, and was designed to provide students with an engaging supplementary resource to support English language learning beyond the classroom.
