The English Language Teaching (ELT) at Tishk International University is organizing a series of teaching training workshops for its fourth grade students. The sixth of the workshops series was conducted by Mrs. Yeşim Turak on Developing Communicative Language Teaching Lesson Scenarios on December 8th. The student participants were satisfied and actively involved with her demonstration of the contents. Participants stated that workshops as such will make a good contribution to their learning and teaching practice. The ELT department would like to announce that the workshops series will continue and expects active participation of its students.

ELT teaching staff  and Fulbright-alumnus, Pashew M. Nuri, had a two-day workshop. As a part of the Erbil team for the University Alumni Workshops that are being arranged and held by the University of Cincinnati, USA, Mr. Pashew presented a workshop on Study Abroad and co-presented another one on Job Interviewing Skills. The workshops target Iraqi U.S university alumni to be trained in areas of leadership and presentation skills, grant writing, studying abroad, public speaking, and job interview skills. Students from Faculty of Education participated in the Food Fair Organization which was held on 8th December 2015 by the Tishk International University. The event started at 10:00 AM, and ended by 15:00 PM. The students brought food and various types of homemade desert and cookies to be sold out and collect the money for charity to support Peshmerga, Syrian campsites and Orphanage. Next to the student organizers there were some other students who volunteered to coordinate merchandise the provisions. The Dean of Education Faculty, Dr. Süleyman Çelik, visited the fair and appreciated the students’ hard work and diligence.  

Faculty of Education organizes weekly seminars on ‘writing scholarly publication’ for all lecturers and assistants of the faculty, given by Dr. Ashraf Riadh, a lecturer at the ELT department. These weekly seminars aim to increase knowledge of attendees about scholarly writing and at the end, at least each participant expected to prepare an article successfully which will be counted as the output of the seminar. In the Writing for Scholarly Publication course, participants will learn to: Understand the technicalities of peer-reviewed journal publication plan, draft, revise, and edit articles for publication in such scholarly journals synthesize and report on the scholarly [...]
