A Trip to the First Educational Museum

On November 17th, 2023, the English Language Teaching (ELT) Department, Faculty of Education at Tishk International University (TIU) organized a field trip to the First Educational Museum in Erbil. The purpose of the trip was to expose students to the rich history of education in Kurdistan- Iraq, and to provide them with an opportunity to learn about the different teaching methods and materials that have been used throughout the centuries.

The museum is housed in a beautifully repurposed building that was once a school. The exhibits are well-organized and informative, and they provide a comprehensive overview of the history of education in Iraq. Students were particularly interested in the exhibits on the old educational system, and were amazed at the number of great scholars in many fields that this school has educated. Among those students was the Head of the Board of Trustees at TIU, Prof. Dr. Idriss Hadi.

The field trip was a valuable learning experience for the students. They learned a great deal about the history of education in Kurdistan- Iraq and they gained a deeper appreciation for the importance of education. The English Language Teaching Department at Tishk International University is committed to providing its students with a well-rounded education. Field trips are an important part of the department’s curriculum, as they provide students with an opportunity to learn outside of the classroom. The department is planning to organize more field trips in the future, and it encourages all students to participate in these trips.
