Perspective Biology Teachers: Visualize The Future

A workshop can introduce a new concept, spurring participants to investigate it further on their own, or can demonstrate and encourage the practice of actual methods. It’s a great way to teach hands-on skills because it offers participants a chance to try out new methods.

Nowadays, the school systems and industry are quite demanding and in many cases, the level of higher education is deemed inadequate, with many stating that it does not meet what is anticipated or what the industry requires. Overcoming this obstacle is not easy, and requires significant reformation, research, and innovation.  Therefore, to connect the dots and occupy students with new-age techniques and pedagogical methods on teaching and classroom environment and management, having workshops and listening to experienced and prominent teachers from schools will assist students to learn more information about their future occupation and their way of work.

In this regard, the Biology Education Department, Faculty of Education at Tishk International University organized the 5th National Workshop titled ”Perspective Biology Teachers: Visualize The Future”. The workshop was held on February 26th, 2022, starting at 10 AM with the Kurdish National Anthem. The opening ceremony was commenced with a speech by the Dean of the Faculty of Education Dr. Suleyman Celik, in which he unfolded the theme of the workshop.

The event consisted of a morning and afternoon session, each of which the speakers delivered their speeches and presentations. The workshop hosted five speakers, each presenting a different topic:

1st session:

1. Keynote Speaker: Mr. Muhammed Canbaloglu has over 10 years of experience in Education and Teaching as an English Language Teacher and currently is a Senior Education Officer for Stirling Schools.

2. Keynote Speaker: Mr. Jegr Jabbar Ismael – Head of Science Department at Ronaki Primary School

Presentation: The Use of Technology in Teaching Science to Young Children

3. Keynote Speaker: Ms. Azhin Abdullah Head of Science Department at Montessori School

Presentation: How to Make Kids to Love Science Classes

4. Keynote Speaker: Ms. Zhwan Taha Hamaamin – Experienced Teacher at Nilufer Girls’ High School

Presentation: Challenges for New Teachers and Ways of Coping with Them

5. Keynote Speaker: Ms. Yeşem Fidan – Experienced Teacher at Ronaki International School

Presentation: Importance of Teacher Self Preparation Before the Class

The workshop was wrapped up by a closing ceremony in which the Head of Department Mr. Harmand Ali highlighted the usefulness and the importance of this kind of event. All attendees including students were very pleased with the workshop and thanked the faculty for such an event. In the end, the Faculty of Education were invited for lunch in Deform Restaurant.
