National Scientific Workshop on Systematic Review and Meta Analysis

In collaboration with the Department of Medical Laboratory Science at Lebanese French University, the Biology Education Department, Faculty of Education at Tishk International University, organized the National Scientific Workshop on Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis, held on October 31st, 2022. 

The workshop aimed to shed light on the contemporary challenges when writing systematic review manuscripts, including the foundation of the systematic review, guidelines for systematic review, and template paper for systematic review. Further, the workshop highlighted the basic techniques and tips throughout the review of article publications in high-impact factor journals. The significance of review for young researchers was also discussed.

More than 80 participants from different universities joined the national workshop, and three presenters shared their experiences regarding review articles and systematic reviews. Asst. Prof. Bashdar M. Hussein from Hawler Medical University presented the first and second sessions, where he tackled the Techniques and Strategies for Publishing Literature Reviews in High-Impact Journals. During the third session Asst. Prof. Dr. Abdulrahman M. Dogara introduced the Overview of Systematic Review., Mr. Mohammed F. Rasul discussed the Importance of Writing a Review Article by the Young Researcher in the fourth and final session of the workshop.

The objectives of the workshop were:

  1. To figure out the main tips for publishing in high-impact factor journals.
  2. To overcome the expected challenges in publishing review articles.
  3. To know the main contents of a systematic review.
  4. To understand the importance of a review paper, mainly for young researchers.

The workshop proved beneficial to participants, and a great discussion was held between the presenters and participants at the end. Attendees showed great interest in the topics discussed. Consequently, the Department of Biology Education plans to have other national and international workshops to collaborate with other public and private academic institutions, where sharing different ideas and experiences results in better research and learning environment.
