Empowering Communities Through Sustainable Waste Management Education

The Biology Education Department at Tishk International University (TIU) is pleased to announce an upcoming International Workshop on Green Transformation. This event is part of a crucial community service project aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 15 (Life on Land), which aims to halt and reverse land degradation, stop natural habitat loss, and raise environmental awareness. The workshop’s primary focus is to equip communities with the knowledge, tools, and inspiration needed to adopt sustainable waste management practices through scientific innovation, climate awareness, and community empowerment.

This workshop is designed to bring together experts and participants from various disciplines to explore innovative approaches to waste management and sustainable living. It will delve into diverse topics, including but not limited to:

  • Community-Based Waste Management practices.
  • Recycling, Upcycling, and Circular Economy approaches.
  • Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) principles.
  • UNICEF’s work towards sustainable development in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
  • The specifics of managing waste in the health and education sectors.
