On May 8, 2025, the second-grade students from the Biology Education Department at Tishk International University embarked on an insightful field trip to the Erbil Agricultural Research Directorate. The primary objective of this educational visit was to explore the Insect Museum within the directorate, with the goal of enriching their understanding of entomology and its crucial applications in agricultural research. The trip was expertly supervised by Asst. Prof. Dr. Sabir Wasman and Ms. Shnyar Qadir.
The visit was specifically designed to achieve several key learning objectives:
- To enhance the students’ theoretical knowledge with hands-on, practical exposure.
- To provide a clear understanding of pest control methods and the vast insect biodiversity present within the Kurdistan region.
- To actively encourage curiosity and the development of essential scientific observation skills among the students.
The students gained a deeper appreciation for the vital role insects play in both natural ecosystems and agricultural systems. This experience successfully bridged the gap between classroom learning and real-world application, offering a unique opportunity for direct engagement with the subject matter.
