Renewable Futures Panel: Pioneering Solutions for Climate Resilience
In collaboration with Hasar Partners, the Biology Education Department, Faculty of Education at Tishk International University (TIU) hosted a workshop entitled “Renewable Futures Panel: Pioneering Solutions for Climate Resilience”, held on May 15th, 2024. This event was part of the department’s activities focusing on Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 15 – Life on Land, aiming to support land ecosystems through education.
The workshop commenced with a seminar by Mr. Muhammed Yusuf, a Climate Action Project Developer, who presented on “Climate Change Issues at the Kurdistan Region Level.” His insightful talk set the stage for a series of engaging discussions.
The panel session featured several distinguished speakers:
- Mr. Gashbin Idrees Ali, Co-founder and President of Hasar Partners
- Ms. Parez Mohsin Dzay, who holds a master’s degree in water and environmental Engineering
- Mr. Ali Shawket, Water Engineering and Management Specialist
- Mr.Haval Ahmed, Environmental protection and improvement board.
The discussions were exceptionally productive, with the speakers imparting their expertise and innovative solutions for climate resilience. The audience enthusiastically engaged, posing insightful inquiries that enhanced the dialogue.
The workshop outcomes include:
- The important role of scientific comprehension in climate change terminology and actions, emphasising the need for precise knowledge to propel efficient solutions.
- The significance of education and personal consciousness in addressing climate change is emphasised, highlighting the substantial impact that well-informed individuals can have on sustainability initiatives.
- The importance of implementing localised adaptations and measures to tackle climate change is evident, highlighting the crucial role of tailored, community-specific strategies in building resilience.
- The importance of increasing awareness among the younger generation and advocating for practical measures, to ensure that future leaders are prepared to address climate-related issues.
Following the conclusion of the workshop, Hasar Partners presented an exhibition highlighting environmental conservation, the utilisation of solar energy, and methods for filtering contaminated water for plant irrigation as an alternative to using clean water. This exhibition offered pragmatic perspectives and resolutions for sustainable lifestyles.
This event represents a notable advancement in educating and empowering individuals to safeguard and maintain the ecosystems that we all rely on.
