As part of the Biotechnology course activities, a scientific debate entitled “Should Human Cloning Be Legalized for Medical Purposes?” was successfully conducted on Sunday, May 14th, 2025, under the supervision of Mr. Harmand A. Hama.
The debate featured two groups of 3rd grade students who presented opposing perspectives on the legalization of human cloning for medical purposes, focusing on its potential benefits, risks, ethical concerns, and future applications in medicine and biotechnology.
The Proposition Group included Kara Abdullah, Arez Ismail, Abdulwahab Ibrahim, and Muhammad Ayoub. The Opposition Group included Barez Ibrahim, Ahmad Muhammad, Akher Abdullah, and Muhammad Sadullah.
During the debate, both groups demonstrated strong critical thinking and academic engagement by discussing key issues related to human cloning, including therapeutic cloning, stem cell research, genetic diseases, organ transplantation, medical innovation, human dignity, and ethical limitations. The students supported their arguments using scientific research articles, real-world examples, ethical viewpoints, and case studies.
The event provided students with an opportunity to enhance their scientific communication, teamwork, research, analytical thinking, and debate skills while exploring one of the most controversial topics in modern biotechnology.
The Biotechnology course continues to encourage students to actively participate in academic discussions that connect scientific advancement with medical, ethical, social, and environmental perspectives.
