Effective Lesson Plan Preparation Seminar for Practice Teaching Students

The senior students of the Physics Education Department participating in the Practice Teaching course attended a very focused and practical seminar, Effective Lesson Plan Preparation, by Mr. Sebur on November 05, 2025. The session aimed to enhance students’ professional readiness and equip them with the essential skills required for successful classroom instruction.

It outlined the basic elements of a lesson plan and organized the lesson plan around five elements, which include objectives, materials, procedures, assessment, and assignments.

Mr. Sebur pointed out that clearly defined learning objectives give direction to the lesson and allow the instructor to establish measurable or attainable student outcomes. As he also explained in talking about instructional materials, relevant and purposeful resources should be selected that directly support the lesson’s goals. The session also focused on effective teaching procedures by showing how to structure the stages of a lesson in order to ensure smooth classroom management and meaningful student engagement. In the assessment section, Mr. Sebur explained simple but effective methods of evaluation that tallied with the lesson’s objectives. He concluded by addressing the importance of well-designed assignments that reinforce learning and extend it beyond the classroom.

This seminar provided senior students with valuable teaching strategies, practical guidance, and reflective insights, strengthening their lesson planning skills and preparing them for their upcoming teaching practicum.
