Community Social Project: Inspiring Minds Through Reading
The Physics Education Department at Tishk International University on December 2, 2025, successfully conducted a community social project titled “Inspiring Minds Through Reading,” aimed at strengthening students’ engagement with academic reading, particularly in the field of physics.
Recognizing the vital role of reading in both academic success and personal development, the project focused on introducing students to newly published physics books and encouraging the development of consistent and meaningful reading habits. As part of this initiative, the department collaborated with TAFSEER Publishing House, through which special discounts were secured on new scientific publications. In addition, a number of physics books were gifted to participating students to further motivate their interest in scientific reading.
A key highlight of the project was an awareness seminar delivered by Prof. Dr. Azeez A. Barzinji, who presented and discussed his newly published book. During the seminar, Prof. Barzinji emphasized the importance of reading scientific literature, shared insights from his book, and inspired students to actively engage with academic texts as a pathway to deeper understanding and critical thinking.
The project aimed to promote a sustainable reading culture among students by raising awareness of the value of books, increasing access to recent scientific publications—especially in physics—and creating meaningful opportunities for interaction with academic literature. The seminar and related activities provided students with both motivation and practical exposure to high-quality scholarly resources.
Overall, “Inspiring Minds Through Reading” successfully contributed to increased student motivation toward academic reading, greater awareness of newly published scientific works, and the development of a positive reading culture. The initiative also supports the enhancement of students’ academic performance and critical thinking skills, aligning with the department’s commitment to community engagement and educational excellence.
