The last session of the NW2-2018 included an open debate entitled “The Present and Future of Nanotechnology: Our Perspectives” by the distinguished researchers in the nanotechnology field. The audience participated effectively in the debate and in general, they gave positive feedback to the workshop. The panellists were selected according to their experiences: Prof. Dr. Mustafa S. Omar from Salahaddin University-Erbil, Asst. Prof. Dr. Khedir R. Khedir from the American University of Kurdistan and Prof. Dr. Muhammed-Ali Al-Omari from JUST University in Jordan. The academic debate was one of the most remarkable activities in the 2nd nanotechnology National workshop. Recently, two researchers groups are working on water purification using nanomaterials; researchers explored their recent works and shared their research findings. It has been known that the demand on clean water is increasing day by day and in contrast to this, the amount of safe, clean and fresh water is steadily decreasing because of various types of pollutants. Second Day Activities The second-day events (Dec 24th, 2018) were started with participants’ registration at 8:30 AM. The first session started with the presentation entitled “Shape Effects on Light Absorption and Scattering for Nanoparticles in Thin Organic Films” by Dr. Karwan W. Qadir. The second speech was presented by Dr. Botan J. Abdullah entitled “Influence of the Size Reduction on the Thermal Conductivity of Bismuth Nanowires”. 2nd National Workshop on Nanotechnology – 2018, Dec 23-24 First Day Activities The 2nd National Workshop on Nanotechnology was organized by the Physics Education department, Faculty of Education, Tishk International University. On December 17th, 2018, Physics Education Department, Faculty of Education, Tishk International University organized an exhibition about Astronomy, a core course for 3rd-year students at the Physics department. Students presented astronomical prototypes included both posters and 3-D models relevant to their study. The exhibition is considered one of the most fascinating subjects in the Physics department. The aim of the exhibition was to improve students’ presentation skills and their teaching abilities.
