The Physics Department, Faculty of Education organised farewell activities such as lunch invitation to the 4th-year students. Students were invited to the one of the famous restaurant in Erbil city and they gathered Physics staff members with fruitful time. Besides, the events included snapping photos, the students received certificates by the lecturers as well.
The department of Physics organized experience sharing activities. In this activity, senior students from the 4th-year presented and shared their experience with the fresh students. Such activity aims to improve the fresh student knowledge about the University environment and aims to strength the bond and the contact between the students as well.
Deanery of Students, Sport Activities office organised a Football Cup for TISHK International University Students and Staff. On 13th of June, 2019 the final match was played between Dentistry First Grade and Physics at 7:00 pm. The Physics Department team won the second place. Medals and cups were given to the first and the second won teams.
A google classroom workshop was presented by a staff member in the Physics education department, on 16th and 17th June 2019. The workshop presented some options and benefits of google classroom with a working frame. During the workshop, some important points were highlighted and discussed. The workshop offered a promising tools to the teachers and lecturers that could facilitate teaching and improve the teaching quality as well.
The Faculty of Education, Tishk University organized a football tournament for the departments of Mathematics Education, Physics Education, Biology Education, and English Language Teaching.The tournament took a place at the University Soccer Field. Each department participated with two teams. Teams had a great friendship and fair play during the series of football matches. The final match took place on December 4th 2018 at 3:00 PM to grant the winner of the 2018 tournament. On May 4, 2019 NASCON conference was held at the faculty of Education building. The event was started with an opening speech by Dr. Sulaiman Celik, Dean of the faculty of Education. keynote speech was given by Dr. Stephne Churchill, a lecturer at the Lebanese French University, Erbil. A 167 speakers and 136 papers were presented by students from 5 different Universities. On 5th of May, 2019, the 4th grade students from the Physics education department had their lunch at the University garden. The students shared preparing and gathering delicious food at the University campus.
On 28th May 2019, Physics Education Department at Tishk International University, organized an exhibition on Mechanics entitled, "Mechanics in our daily life". The exhibition supervised by the course lecturers. The second-year students present 20 different posters and models in Mechanics. Our staff jury members and the audiences from different departments have been highly interacted with the students’ work. Students’ performance was very satisfactory to all the attendance. We believe that students should work on these models afterward to bring them to our daily life inevitability.
On May 12, 2019 Physics Education Department's students performed presentations about “Using teaching materials in Physics lessons. The presentation was “Using 3 materials to teach 10 different subjects in physics for each material.” Students were encouraged to find and use simple and handy materials to deliver and teach important subjects and concepts in Physics. Lecturers from the Physics Department evaluated student’s presentations with the prepared models.
There are many ways to foster student engagement, one of them is “holding classes outside”. According to researches learning, outdoors event is not only a fun, novel experience for students, but also helps them to focus on the subject. In outside classes, students will pay more attention, be less stressed, happier and more interested in learning. In one of the “Material development and adaptation course”, 4th graders did one of the lessons outside the class was at the University garden. By having this class, students had the experience of “Teaching a Class Outside”.
