Breakfast with Future Physicists: Establishing a Connection over Morning Conversations
On October 15th, 2024, the Physics Education Department, Faculty of Education at Tishk International University (TIU) organized a special “Breakfast with Future Physicists” activity, which brought its faculty and students together for a morning filled with conversations and social networking. Being quite informal, this get-together aimed at instilling community among returning students and their academic staff and afforded a relaxed atmosphere to discuss aspirations for the coming academic year.
The physics education department includes Dr. Pishtiwan Akrem. The head of the department expressed their anticipation of the new academic year and told them how important it was to develop good relations within the department. “This is more than a dinner; it’s about building a network of support wherein students can feel easy approaching for help, discuss ideas, and learn to become better physicists in the future.”.
Students were able to personalize their interactions with lecturers, by discussing academic and non-academic problems. Consequently, these friendly relations allowed students to be more at ease with instructors throughout the year. The event went well. The department plans to make it a tradition in years to come, as it contributes to strengthening relationships between students and faculty and making the academic environment friendlier.
