On the 3rd of April, 2019 the Department of Physics organised a scientific workshop on rocks and minerals identification, as it is a core course for the 2nd-year students. The workshop was presented by Mr. Zahid Mohammed Omer from the Department of Geology of Petroleum and Sediments, Duhok Polytechnic University and Mohammed Hazem Awn Al-deen, a 4th-year student at the Department of Applied Geosciences, college of Spatial Planning & Applied Science, University of Duhok. Social activities were involved during the Dokan dum scientific trip. The Physics Department staff and the 2nd-year students shared traditional and local food for breakfast and launch.
On the 2nd of April 2019, the Physics Department, Faculty of Education organised a scientific trip to the Dukan dum, Kurdistan region, Iraq. The aim of the trip was to incorporate students with the concepts of clean power production. Students got the chance to visit Dukan hydroelectric station. Students were guided by a qualified engineer along with the Physics Department staff. The involved staff explained and covered the points and steps involved in hydroelectric power production, questions were also aroused by the students and discussed. The Physics Department, Faculty of Education has organized a scientific tour entitled Hydroelectric power. The tour involved the participation of second-year students by visiting the Civil Engineering labs. Lecturers and lab assistance explained the construction of dams and the important principles and concepts in producing hydrostatic power. Designed prototypes were introduced inside the labs to enable students to well understand important points in hydroelectricity production.
On the 14th of March 2019, Tishk International University organized a tree planting activity as an attempt to save and to enhance nature. The activities involved planting some trees inside the University campus. The Physics department students and staff were cooperated to succeed in the activities. Dr. Idris Hadi has also participated in this activity.
Physics Department, Faculty of Education is organizing a workshop on the identification of different types of rocks and minerals. The workshop will be held on the 3rd of April, 2019 at 1:30 pm. The workshop includes two sessions. The first session will be presented by Mr. Zahid Mohammed Omer from the Department of Geology of Petroleum and Sediments, Duhok Polytechnic University. Whereas, the second session will be presented by Mohammed Hazem Awn Al-deen, 4th-year student, Department of Applied Geosciences, college of Spatial Planning & Applied Science, University of Duhok.
