On May 13, 2025, Tishk International University (TIU) in Erbil, Iraq, successfully held the 7th International Workshop on Nanotechnology in Hall #302. This year’s event, themed “Green Nanotechnology for a Greener Future,” brought together leading academics and researchers to explore sustainable innovations in the field.

A Distinguished Gathering

The workshop began with opening remarks from esteemed university leadership, including Asst. Prof. Dr. Idris Hadi, Head of the Board of Trustees; Prof. Dr. Sultan T. Abu-Orabi, President of the University; and Dr. Pshtiwan Akrem, Head of the Physics Education Department. Their addresses highlighted the university’s commitment to advancing nanotechnology and fostering international collaboration.

The event was structured into two main sessions: keynote speeches and a panel discussion. The first session featured seven keynote speakers, with special guest Prof. Dr. Mohammad Mansoob Khan from Universiti Brunei Darussalam, Brunei Darussalam, whose participation greatly enriched the program.

Panel Discussion and Key Outcomes

The workshop culminated in a panel discussion titled “Strategies for Advancing Green Energy in KRI: Challenges, Opportunities, and the Roadmap.” This engaging session provided a platform for scholars to share insights and explore practical pathways for promoting green energy within the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

With a strong academic turnout of 130 participants from 21 universities, the event fostered active engagement and knowledge exchange. This workshop underscored the vital role of nanotechnology in creating a sustainable future and reinforced Tishk International University’s position as a hub for scientific and academic advancement.
