7th International Workshop on “Innovative Teaching Skills in Physics

The Physics Education Department at Tishk International University is pleased to announce the upcoming 7th International Workshop on “Innovative Teaching Skills in Physics,” scheduled to take place on Wednesday, December 17th, 2025; Time: 14:00; Venue: 302 Edu. Building.

This year’s workshop will be held under the theme:

“Developing Reflective and Innovative Physics Teachers for Senior High School Classrooms.”

Aligned with the UN’s 17 SDGs, specifically SDG 4—Quality Education, with a focus on Teacher Training and Professional Development—the workshop aims to enhance the quality of physics teaching in senior high school classrooms and equip educators with skills that meet modern educational challenges.

The workshop will bring together educators, researchers, and experts to address key issues in teaching senior-level physics classes, particularly in exam-intensive environments. The program will center on three major objectives:

1. Enhancing Teacher Preparedness for Exam-Intensive Senior Classes

The workshop will introduce research-informed instructional strategies such as differentiated teaching, formative assessment, and scaffolding. These approaches aim to empower teachers to effectively support diverse learners in Grades 11 and 12 as they prepare for national standardized tests and final examinations.

2. Promoting Equitable Distribution of Skilled Teachers Across Senior Classes

Participants will examine existing policies and school-level practices that affect how experienced teachers are allocated to high-stakes exam classes. The workshop will strive to develop actionable recommendations to ensure that all students—regardless of school type, location, or academic stream—have fair access to qualified and effective physics teachers.

3. Building Teacher Capacity for Equity and Inclusion in High-Stakes Assessment Contexts

The workshop will focus on strengthening teachers’ understanding of the challenges faced by marginalized or under-supported learners. Through discussions on culturally responsive pedagogy, inclusive assessment preparation, and targeted support strategies, the program aims to reduce achievement gaps and foster equitable outcomes in senior mathematics and physics examinations.

This international workshop reflects the department’s ongoing commitment to advancing quality education, promoting professional development, and supporting physics teachers in delivering inclusive and effective instruction.
