Welcome to the Teacher of the Future Project!

Organized by the ELT Department, Faculty of Education at Tishk International University, the Teacher of the Future Project is an exciting initiative taking place starting from October 2022-2023 and finishing in May 2022-2023. With its primary focus on serving the community and enhancing the teaching skills of our students, this project aims to foster a platform for the discussion of educational needs and language teaching methodologies in K-12 settings.

Set in Erbil, this project brings together public and private schools, creating an inclusive environment for knowledge exchange and sharing experiences. We believe that by collaborating with educational institutions, we can collectively work towards enhancing the quality of education in our community. A total of 56 students have participated in this project, along with a dedicated team of six staff members who are responsible for its execution. The diverse backgrounds and expertise of our staff ensure a well-rounded approach to addressing the challenges and opportunities in modern education.

Throughout the academic year, the Teacher of the Future Project involves the following steps and activities:
  • Observations of lessons in different disciplines: Participants have the opportunity to observe teaching practices across various subjects, gaining insights into different instructional approaches and strategies.
  • Observation of teaching methodology and classroom management techniques: Emphasis is placed on understanding effective teaching methods and techniques for managing a classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Interviews with students and teachers: Engaging in interviews allows participants to gather valuable perspectives and insights from both students and experienced educators, providing a comprehensive understanding of the educational landscape.
  • Teaching lessons on different topics: Participants are given the opportunity to design and deliver lessons on various subjects, applying their newly acquired knowledge and skills.
  • Assisting teachers and school administration in performing school activities: Participants actively engage in supporting teachers and administrators with school-related tasks and activities, gaining practical experience and contributing to the school community.
  • Familiarizing with school culture and teaching philosophy: By immersing themselves in the school environment, participants develop an understanding of the unique culture and teaching philosophy prevalent in educational institutions.
At the heart of this initiative is the exchange of ideas and experiences. We encourage active participation, collaboration, and networking among all stakeholders, including educators, researchers, and policymakers. By creating a space for dialogue, we hope to build a strong community of passionate individuals committed to shaping the future of education. As we strive to become better teachers and nurture the leaders of tomorrow, the Teacher of the Future Project serves as a catalyst for growth and development. Together, let’s embark on this journey of exploration, innovation, and transformation to create a brighter future for education in Erbil.
