The Professional Development Session Series of the English Language Teaching Department does not stop deploying academic information to its department and the Education Faulty. This time The Head of English Language Teaching department Mr. Pashew M. Nuri presented an effective workshop to the Education Faculty under the title of Get Them Engaged: On-the-spot strategies to increase in-class active participation. The workshop was conducted on Nov. 20th 2016. The workshop provided some engaging implementations for managing the class with developed teaching techniques that help teachers get students participated in the classroom environment cognitively with fun and excitement.

Nvivo Workshop

The first session of the Academic Development Session Series was just delivered. English Language Teaching Department stands to present seminars and workshops for its staff members. This time Mr. Bashar Batur, an assistant lecturer in English Language Teaching Department laid out a foundational understanding for gave the Nvivo software. Nvivo is a software program used for analyzing qualitative data, searching information for literature and managing a complete research project. ELT Alumni Reunited

Fall has gathered and reunited friends. The English Language Department of Tishk International University in association with the Tishk International Student Deanery held its alumni reunion event on Saturday, November 12th. The event took place at Tishk International University campus that started with students welcoming and getting together for discussion and chatting, it was followed by lunch and a short speech by the Head of ELT department in regards to the purposes of such events.

Farewell dinner for the Graduates

The ELT Department hosted its traditional farewell dinner on May 28, 2016 for fourth year students, who are going to graduate this year, in Dawa 2 restaurant. Dean of education Faculty Dr. Suleyman Celik sponsored the event. Other attendees included the graduating students, Head of ELT department, advisor of the students, lecturers, and staff. It was a well spent evening for the senior students and everyone. Each one had opportunity to say “thank you” and “goodbye” to one another. Students said their last remarks and expressed their gratitude to every single lecturer. Lecturers also bid their farewell.

Shakespearean Sonnet Poster Presentation

On Monday 30th May, the ELT Department held the Shakespearean Sonnet Poster Presentation, where graduating students exhibited posters that depicted individual sonnets of their choice from among William Shakespeare's 154 sonnets. The activity - which was arranged in concordance with the universal Shakespeare 2016 campaign, entitled #ShakespeareLives - came as a graduation project for students in their course of TEFL Literature, given to them by Dr Basil Q. Muhammad.  The poster exhibition was inaugurated by the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Dr Suleyman Celik, and the Head of the ELT Department, Mr Ibrahim Nisanci, as well as the exhibition organizer, Dr Basil Q, Muhammad.
