On 8th, January, 2017 Third grade students of ELT with Mr. Taner Ilgin’s(Assistant lecturer) supervision presented a work shop about vocabulary learning and teaching for the course of TEFL: VOCABULARY & READING. The kinds of vocabulary games were presented. The students showed that games are very essential for teaching different kinds vocabulary.
The Music of English Poetry is the title of a seminar that was presented to the staff of the ELT Department by Dr Basil Q Muhammad on 27th December 2016. The seminar commenced from the phonological concepts of the syllable, word stress, prominence and intonation. From these concepts, it then proceeded to explain the natural rhythm of the English language, and how that has become the source of the metrical system of English poetry. The presenter then introduced the basic terminology related to English meter, clarifying that in musical terms, with examples and drills.
The Joy of a Beginning: First Year Students Welcome Party On 22nd, December, 2016 education faculty welcomed its foundation year students. Foundation year (FY) students are the first year students of English Language Teaching, Physics, Mathematics and Biology departments. The students spent time with their lecturers and friends .The program started with the speech of the Dean of the Education Faculty (Dr. Suleyman Celik). He introduced to the philosophy of education in the Education faculty and Tishk International University. He lastly wished good wills and success in their new academic year.
English Language Teaching Department organized an orientation week for the first year students.The orientation programme included course indication,students registration ELT's curriculum along with campus tour and lecturers introduction.
On December 21st, Mr. Faiek Saied offered a lecture on Bullying and Its affects on Student to the ELT department students. MR. The ELT department of Tishk International university organized the first lecture of its educational lecture series as a part of its Student Skills Development and Teachers' Professional Development Programs. The lecture was took more than an hour that ended with critical encounters between the presenter and students of of the Faculty of Education.
