Updates in regards to ELT492: RESEARCH PROJECT IN ELT course The ELT department met on Thursday May 4th, 2017 and concluded the following changes in the ELT492: RESEARCH PROJECT IN ELT course requirements for the 2016-2017 academic year. The required word limit for the project is from 4000 to 8000. The deadline is extended to Sunday, May 21st, 2017. All the projects should pass above 70% in plagiarism checking program.

Another session of The Professional Development Session Series was presented, on April 17, 2017.A seminar was presented By: Mr. Rawand Sabah, assistant Lecturer at ELT department. The role of Deixis or deictic expressions were explained in the seminar, type of Deixis and deictic expressions were mentioned. The seminar was hold Room No. 103, Education Faculty Building.

ELT Book Report Exhibition

On April 3, 2017 a book report exhibition was held by the English Language Teaching Department at the Faculty of Education. ELT fourth grade students, under the supervision of Dr. Basil Q. Muhammad, exhibited their individual depictions of the story of Swan Lake in the form of creative book reports. The exhibition was held in the Faculty of Education building, and was launched by Dr. Suleyman Celik, Dean of the Education Faculty. Students' projects won the pleasure of all attendants, and were academically evaluated by three jury members for the course of TEFL: Literature.

A seminar was presented by the head of teacher training center by Mr. M. Agpak titled How to teach reading? .On Mrach.30th, 2017 he presented a presentation about the techniques of teaching reading in ESL classroom. He mentioned his techniques and shared his experiences to the audience. He showed his students’ projects to prove that students successfully can be learned if useful techniques are applied in the classroom. The seminar was hold in room (103).

Belief, and Challenging Yourself – 2nd KST

The 2nd talk of Kurdistan Student Talks (KST) was delivered by Sarah Fadhil, an IT student from the American University of Iraq – Sulaimani. Sarah talked about belief and the power of keeping belief in yourself for success. She further discussed the imperative to challenge oneself for success as an individual and seizing opportunities when they appear to show themselves and when they show change within one as inevitable.
