ELT Department Academic Trip to Sulaimani TIU-ELT Department
On December 12, 2022, the ELT Department, Faculty of Education at Tishk International University organized an academic trip to Sulaimani, a city in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. The purpose of the trip was to visit the TIU Suli branch and discuss the internship program, its challenges, opportunities, and assessment.
The trip started early morning, with faculty members gathering at the TIU main gate. They boarded a bus and headed towards Sulaimani, a two-hour drive from Erbil. During the journey, the group engaged in discussions about the internship program and its importance in preparing students for their future careers. Upon arrival in Sulaimani, the group visited the TIU Suli branch, where they had a meeting with the ELT department faculty members. The discussion focused on the challenges and opportunities of the internship program, including the need for more industry partnerships, the importance of providing students with hands-on experience, and the role of assessment in evaluating the effectiveness of the program.
The group also had the opportunity to observe some of the internship activities that were being carried out by the students. They interacted with lecturers and discussed their experiences and challenges. In addition, the group also visited some of the cultural and historical sites in Sulaimani. They explored the vibrant markets and tasted the delicious local cuisine, which added to the fun and educational experience of the trip.
The academic trip to Sulaimani was a valuable opportunity for the TIU ELT faculty members to exchange ideas and learn from each other. It provided them with a platform to discuss the challenges and opportunities of the internship program and explore ways of improving it. The trip was a testament to the university’s commitment to providing its students with a holistic and enriching educational experience, which prepares them for their future careers.
