The First National Workshop of the Computer Education Department

Workshops are platforms not just to learn others perspectives and gain new aspects but also a nice method for socializing and intercommunication. Many advantages arise out of participating in workshops, being confidence, motivation, networking and information.

The school systems and industry these days are quite demanding and frequently we encounter the problem about the level of higher education does not meet what is anticipated. Although overcoming this obstacle is not easy. Therefore, to connect the dots and occupy students with new-age techniques and pedagogical methods on teaching and classroom environment and management, having workshops and listening to experienced and prominent teachers from schools will assist students to learn more information about their future occupation and their way of work.

The 1st National Workshop on COMPUTER TECHNOLOGIES AND TEACHING METHODOLOGIES organized by the Faculty of Education at Tishk International University was successfully held on February 26th, 2022. The aim of this workshop was to host both national and international experts in the field to discuss and share ideas and experiences.

The first keynote speaker for hole faculty was Mr. Muhammed Canbaloglu, who has over 10 years of experience in education and teaching as English Language teacher and currently is a Senior Education Officer for Stirling Schools, presented “Why Continuing Development Maters” followed by another talk  after the coffee break Dr. Gocan Gumus presented his presentation. Very fruitful and informative talks.

Last but not least,  a panel session that was between Computer Education Department and Mathematics Education Department  that was at 12:30 we invited 3 of our graduates and Mathematics department also invited 3 of their graduate who are currently working inside and outside of Kurdistan and Iraq. The panel started by a brief talk about “Tips in form of orientation about undergraduate programs and the life after graduation” by Ms. Slvar Abdulazeez  from Computer department and Dr. Salisu Ibrahimfrom Mathematics department and later our panelists discussed their experience and hardships while and after their studies and in the work environment.

At the end of the program, we wrapped up with the closing ceremony by the head of the department Dr. Orhan Tug who highlighted the usefulness and the importance of this kind of events. Twenty-five students of the Computer Education Department participated in the workshop. We would like to thank students for attending this event, and extend our sincere gratitude to all organizing members and staff who contributed to the success of the workshop. By the end staffs of education faculty were invited for lunch to Defermo restaurant.
