In continuation of scientific activities, the Mathematics Education Department at Tishk International University organized an international workshop on Wednesday, December 17th, 2025, entitled \u201cInternational Workshop on Teaching and Learning of Mathematics: Advancing Equity and Inclusion in High School Mathematics Education.\u201d<\/strong> The event was held at 14:00 in Room 302 of the Education Building, within the framework of UN SDG 4 \u2013 Quality Education: Teacher Training and Professional Development<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The workshop aimed to:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. \n

    Enhance Teacher Preparedness for Exam-Intensive Senior Classes<\/strong> by equipping high school teachers with effective instructional strategies\u2014including differentiated instruction, scaffolding, and formative assessment\u2014to better support diverse learners in Grades 11\u201312 preparing for national examinations.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  2. \n

    Promote Equitable Distribution of Skilled Teachers Across Senior Classes<\/strong> through examining policies and school-level practices that shape teacher allocation, ensuring equal access to qualified instructors regardless of school type or location.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  3. \n

    Build Teacher Capacity to Address Equity and Inclusion<\/strong> in high-stakes assessment environments by strengthening culturally responsive pedagogy, inclusive exam preparation, and targeted support for marginalized learners.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The workshop consisted of two sessions. The first session<\/strong>, chaired by Mr. David Wafula<\/em> from Tishk International University, featured a keynote speech delivered by Dr. Abdullah Ziya<\/strong> from Suleyman Demirel University, Kazakhstan, and Stirling Education, Erbil. His presentation, \u201cPreparing Teachers for Equitable, Inclusive, and Employer-Driven Senior High School Teaching Roles,\u201d<\/em> explored current challenges faced by teachers and innovative solutions for strengthening inclusive mathematics education.<\/p>\n

    After a short coffee break, the second session<\/strong>\u2014chaired by Mr. Reman Sabah<\/em>, TIU\u2014continued with a keynote lecture by Mr. Hemin Ahmed<\/strong> from Stirling Education. His talk, \u201cChallenges and Solutions: Equipping Pre-Service Teachers for Effective Senior High School Physics Teaching,\u201d<\/em> highlighted practical and research-based strategies for enhancing teacher readiness in high-stakes Physics classrooms.<\/p>\n

    The workshop concluded with a closing ceremony and certificate distribution, during which participants expressed the importance of sustained collaboration between universities and educational institutions to promote equitable, high-quality teaching practices in senior secondary education.<\/p>\n
