On September 15th, 2022, the <\/span>English Language Teaching Departmen<\/span><\/a>t, Faculty of Education<\/a> at\u00a0<\/span>Tishk International University<\/span><\/a>, held its 3rd National Workshop on Foreign Language Learning and Teaching: New Trends in Education. The workshop aimed to shed light on three new trends in Education 4.0 that were Social and Emotional Learning, Digital Citizenship, and Personalized Learning. Teaching English during the 4th industrial revolution is challenging because technology should be implemented in both teaching and learning. In this sense, educators have tried to align education with the emerging industry outside academic institutions. In fact, Education 4.0 is technology-oriented. The presenters and panellists talked about the benefits and challenges of these trends, discussing how to integrate them into the curriculum.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the 3rd National Workshop, two different presenters shared their experience regarding learning and teaching English as a foreign language. Mr. Hana Mohammed from Koya University presented the first session in which he tackled the role of Social and Emotional Learning in the current digital age. In the second session, Mr. Soran Mustafa introduced the potential application of Digital Citizenship in educational settings. During the third session, the panellists discussed the opportunities and challenges of implementing Personalized Learning.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

1. Improve curriculum and syllabus,<\/span><\/p>\n

2. Update the policies in curriculum and syllabus designing,<\/span><\/p>\n

3. Give specific recommendations to foreign language learners and teachers in terms of communication and creativity,<\/span><\/p>\n

4. Reflect upon the demands of the 21st-century globalized market,<\/span><\/p>\n

5. Strengthen and enlarge the EFL teachers network in the region.<\/span><\/p>\n

The English Language Teaching Department is planning to hold other national and international workshops so as to create collaboration with other academic institutions, both public and private, where sharing different ideas and experiences results in better learning and teaching environment.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\t\t
