As part of the open workshop organized by the Department of English Language Teaching (ELT) at the Faculty of Education<\/a> at Tishk International University (TIU)<\/a>, the faculty held the third reading performance session on November 3rd, 2021. The aim of the workshop was to improve students’ English reading performance.<\/p>\n The workshop included the following sessions:<\/p>\n \u00b7 1st session: Denotative and connotative meaning in a text<\/p>\n \u00b7 2nd session: Three formations of information: text, image, and video<\/p>\n \u00b7 3rd session: Introducing quick-read<\/p>\n \u00b7 4th session: Applying the above-mentioned on a short story<\/p>\n The workshop was presented by Assist. lecturers. Soran Mustafa, Kanar Zirak, Karwan Karim, and Aivar Lukman (TIU\/Faculty of Education – ELT department). The workshop enabled students to develop and enhance their reading skills. It also allows participants to not only read the literal meaning but also search for connotations and emotive meanings. The workshop intends to help students develop the reading skills that are required, and portray how these reading skills contribute to helping them understand themselves and others better.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
