As part of the English Language Teaching (ELT) Department\u2019s commitment to community service and educational outreach, fourth-year students\u00a0Sharan Braim, Hazha Kafi, and Rayan Shamsaden<\/b>\u00a0successfully designed and developed an\u00a0Interactive Learn-by-Doing Notebook<\/b>\u00a0for learners in public schools.<\/span><\/p>\n

The project was conducted from\u00a0December 1, 2025, to April 15, 2026<\/b>, and was designed to provide students with an engaging supplementary resource to support English language learning beyond the classroom. Recognizing the importance of active participation in language acquisition, the student team developed a notebook incorporating a variety of task-based activities aimed at making learning both meaningful and enjoyable.<\/p>\n

Project Steps<\/h3>\n

  1. \n

    Needs Analysis (December 2025):<\/b>\u00a0The team identified the learning needs and challenges faced by public school students in learning English and determined the objectives of the notebook.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  2. \n

    Planning and Design (December 2025 \u2013 January 2026):<\/b>\u00a0The students selected appropriate language-learning activities and designed the notebook structure based on task-based learning principles.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  3. \n

    Material Development (January \u2013 February 2026):<\/b>\u00a0Interactive exercises focusing on communication, creativity, problem-solving, vocabulary, reading, and writing skills were created and organized into the notebook.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  4. \n

    Pilot Testing and Feedback Collection (March 2026):<\/b>\u00a0To evaluate the effectiveness of the notebook, the students distributed trial copies to a group of learners who had attended public schools. The learners completed selected activities and provided feedback regarding the content, level of difficulty, clarity of instructions, design, and overall usefulness of the notebook.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  5. \n

    Revision and Improvement (March \u2013 Early April 2026):<\/b>\u00a0Based on the feedback received from the pilot participants, the team revised and improved the notebook by making necessary changes to the activities, instructions, and layout to better meet learners’ needs.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  6. \n

    Finalization and Distribution (April 2026):<\/b>\u00a0The notebook was finalized and prepared as a supplementary learning resource for public school learners.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The Interactive Learn-by-Doing Notebook includes exercises that encourage learners to practice English through problem-solving, creativity, communication, and hands-on activities. By emphasizing task-based learning, the notebook promotes student engagement while helping learners develop essential language skills in a practical and interactive way.<\/p>\n

    A key strength of the project was the inclusion of a pilot-testing phase, which allowed the student developers to assess the practicality and effectiveness of the notebook before finalizing it. The feedback gathered from learners played an important role in refining the material and ensuring that it was both engaging and appropriate for the target audience.<\/p>\n

    This community service initiative reflects the ELT Department\u2019s dedication to supporting local schools and contributing to educational development within the community. The project also provided the student developers with an opportunity to apply their knowledge of language teaching methodologies to create a resource that addresses the needs of young learners.<\/p>\n
