The English Language Teaching (ELT) Department is committed to continuous improvement in<\/span><\/span>
all aspects of our academic practice. In line with this commitment, we are pleased to announce<\/span><\/span>
the successful completion of a productive workshop focused on<\/span><\/span> Exam Paper Evaluation<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/span>
Held on 28\/11\/2025, the session brought together faculty members to engage in a detailed and<\/span><\/span>
critical assessment of recent examination papers.<\/span><\/span><\/span>
Workshop Objectives<\/span><\/span><\/span>
The primary goal of this focused workshop was to conduct a thorough analysis of current<\/span><\/span>
examination practices, specifically aiming to:<\/span><\/span><\/span>
\u2022<\/span><\/span><\/span> Identify Strengths:<\/span><\/span> Pinpoint the effective elements within our exam papers that<\/span><\/span>
successfully measure student learning outcomes and cognitive abilities.<\/span><\/span><\/span>
\u2022<\/span><\/span><\/span> Determine Areas for Improvement:<\/span><\/span> Critically assess aspects of the papers that may be<\/span><\/span>
ambiguous, poorly structured, or not adequately testing the intended material.<\/span><\/span><\/span>
\u2022<\/span><\/span><\/span> Ensure Fairness and Reliability:<\/span><\/span> Review the evaluation criteria and marking schemes<\/span><\/span>
to confirm consistency, fairness, and reliability across all markers and courses.<\/span><\/span><\/span>
\u2022<\/span><\/span><\/span> Share Best Practices:<\/span><\/span> Facilitate an open discussion among faculty to share successful<\/span><\/span>
strategies for question design, assessment layout, and rubric development.<\/span><\/span><\/span>
Key Outcomes and Next Steps<\/span><\/span><\/span>
The candid discussion and collaborative evaluation led to several important insights regarding<\/span><\/span>
the clarity, scope, and alignment of our current assessment tools. We now have a clearer<\/span><\/span>
understanding of the<\/span><\/span> good points<\/span><\/span> we must maintain and the<\/span><\/span> bad points<\/span><\/span> we need to address.<\/span><\/span><\/span>
The feedback generated during this workshop will be instrumental in revising our future<\/span><\/span>
examination procedures, ensuring that our assessments are robust, fair, and truly reflective of the<\/span><\/span>
material taught and the skills required of our students.<\/span><\/span><\/span>
The ELT Department will now implement the feedback by:<\/span><\/span><\/span>
1.<\/span><\/span><\/span> Developing Revised Guidelines:<\/span><\/span> Creating updated, clearer guidelines for the question paper<\/span><\/span>
submission and review.<\/span><\/span><\/span>
2.<\/span><\/span><\/span> Integrating Best Practices:<\/span><\/span> Incorporating successful question formats and evaluation<\/span><\/span>
methods identified in the workshop into future assessments.<\/span><\/span><\/span>
We thank all participating faculty for their dedication and valuable contributions to this essential<\/span><\/span>
initiative. We look forward to seeing the positive impact of this continuous quality improvement<\/span><\/span>
