Tishk International University (TIU)<\/a> executed a significant initiative to provide support to orphan students, demonstrating their strong commitment to community engagement. This effort not only highlighted the empathy of our students but also supported multiple United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), reaffirming our dedication to global standards of compassion and justice.<\/p>\nDuring the first stage of the initiative, students aimed to achieve the following goals:\u00a0 SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) In order to effectively implement the initiative, student proposed and launched a food fundraising event. Leveraging the funds generate from the event, students initiated a project to assist orphaned students, focusing on providing necessary clothing and educational support. In aim of achieving SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 5 (Gender Equality), students conducted a comprehensive needs assessment at a local public school to customise the assistance provided to orphan students, ensuring that it is suitable for their specific requirements, taking into account their gender and need-specific aid.<\/p>\n
During the next phase of the project, SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) was the goal, for which a collaborative effort was undertaken by students, under the guidance of faculty staff members. This effort aimed at purchasing suitable clothing, highlighting the significance of purposeful and targeted philanthropy. SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) were achieved through successfully navigating logistical obstacles to acquire and transport the required garments, showcasing resilience and commitment. The distribution event in which students directly distributed clothing to orphan students, resulting in moments of happiness and fostering a sense of community, scoring SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities).<\/p>\n
The project’s success is largely attributed to the generosity and commitment of the ELT students in stages 2, 3, and 4. Special thanks are due to them. The esteemed faculty members, Ms. Kanar Zirak, Ms. Soma Hassan, and Ms. Lydya Aso, offered invaluable guidance and support during the initiative. This initiative serves as a prime example of the significant influence that collective action can exert on society. As we contemplate this journey, the ELT Department is motivated to persist in such undertakings, with the goal of creating a lasting heritage of empathy and making a meaningful contribution to the attainment of all Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Every instance of benevolence reinforces our dedication to effecting a substantial impact\u2014one sincere action at a time.<\/p>\n
